Traditional JP New Years Celebration – Kagami Biraki

January 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

Kagami Biraki is a ceremony where the lid of a sake barrel is broken open with a wooden mallet and then the sake is served to everyone. An alternative form of Kagami Baraki involves cutting and serving pieces of mochi and both represent the start of something new. On New Years Day a number of venues including Hanazono 308, King Bell hut, and Hotel Niseko Alpen will be conducting this ceremony. Keep an eye out for Taiko drumming events on the day too!
